more beach

Oh the textures are abundant! From berries, spikey flowers, peeling bark, the ripples of the water and the darkness of the trees, the smoothness of the shells and pebbles, it's a feast for the eyes and had me so excited to look at my environment through my amateur photographers eye.

summer

Summer where I live is just amazing. The ocean beaches are the best places to spend a warm evening and the amazing setting the sun sits at can make for some interesting play with photos. I LOVE the photos of my girls with the sun behind them, creating their body to silhouette. The best photos come from them just playing .. no posing.

And then when the sun lowers even further in the sky .. lengthy shadows were created and I was over the top happy to stumble upon this idea. What fun we had being 'shadow models'. I wish I had taken more time to play longer at it, but passerbys made me a little self conscious. :P

Sometimes you just don't want to smile, but when a family of nine children rarely see eachother, we had to take every photo opportunity there is. Besides, I don't think my Dad would have wanted us to be sad every minute.

seclusion

I've fallen in a passion with textures, from the roughness of the rock face to the unevenness of the branch to even the smoothness of the water. This little heart rock literally jumped its presence out at me from the completely rock filled beach. I even noticed the first little buds that show spring is so very near. Oh how I can't wait!

40th birthday party for a friends sister

I so enjoyed being photographer for this birthday bash. The birthday girl put on a huge party for herself, to bring in her 40th decade in style. Each subject made my job so easy by being stunningly beautiful to capture. :)

goodbye 2009

I went through the photos I took this past year and picked out one picture for each month. Some months I didn't have as many photo ops, and other months I had far to many to pick from .. but here's my favourite from 2009.
